power seat 850 1996

Recently the power seat for the upper part became quite noisey,it still works fine but the noise is lame.I can press on the seat back where the motor is located and the noise seems to go away, its as if the motor might be loose and hand pressure steadys it.I know to gain access to the motor the seat cover must come off and have read that this is best trusted to volvo.I am highly mechanical but do not want to break anything of get into it if it can not be done. the car is a 1986 850 t5 with side seat airbags.Has anyone encountered this problem that can give me some info on it.

Re: power seat 850 1996

I don't know much about the new 850 with side seat airbags, but I just experienced a similar problem with my the power driver seat in my 1993 850 GLT. I would recommend looking at the thread and responses at the address below:

I have not done much mechanical work on my car, but was able to fix the seat quite easily with the assistance of the responses that were posted.
