Rattle? 850 95

When driving my 850 at a low speeds and encountering bumps I hear sort of loud annoying knock from too pieces of metal. Similar to a rattle. It's coming from either the rear or the front of drivers side of the car. I've looked at the struts and they look ok. My rear struts have 1000k on them do you think they could be making this almost loose rattle noise or what could it be?

Thank You

Sandro P. Seminara

Re: Rattle? 850 95

I had some metal clanking/rattling noise when I install aftermarket pads on the front.

Probably too obvious but if you checked everything else. Check the spare tire. I had a friend that it took a month for him to figure that out.

Re: Rattle? 850 95

Well after much investigation, I've found the problem. It seams as though the shock isn't attaced to the upper part of the frame. That is when I push down on the wechile the shock stays static. It looks as thoug the Upper shock housing ( a rubber/metal cup that holds the sring to the bottom of the shock. Has worn through the middle, not allowing the shock cy. to attach to a perm. surface. Midas told me that both struts had to be replaced at $300 each and some kind of special allignment thing. Total $1000. Good thing I did some investigation because this is the best $23 dollar fix I've ever bought (Upper Shock plate that is).
