1998 V70 T-5 Hard Reset on Ck Engine light
Volvo wants $185 to do this-
I just had Volvo install a IPD Oxygen sensor ( Front) after I tried a Wagner OX sensor
Before Volvo put the IPD sensor in I was told it may need a hard reset on the Ck engine lt. Well the Ck light is back on. Can my non-Volvo guy do this??

    A hard reset means resetting all of the ECM values to zero and then going through the drive cycle, which could take a 100 miles.

    Any scanner can clear the CEL, some clear too much. Just removing the battery cables and turning the key to position II will "hard" reset the ECM. But this will delay the CEL from returning if you still have a problem.

    Are you sure you don't have a vacuum problem? If the error is because of too rich or too lean, that is not an O2 sensor problem.

    reset the CEL, then turn the car off. Take off the battery, leave it off for 30 minutes then put it back. Drive around, you're good to go...
