Been driving a '04 XC70 since last spring, and love the car. Put Blizacks on all 4 corners for the winter and can not believe the sure footedness over my old 740 wagon. With spring coming (yes, it will be coming here in upstate NY), I need to get new tires for the summer. I noticed on Tirerack.com there is a very limited selection of high performance all season tires. I was mostly seeing touring type tires. I understand a XC70 is not going to handle like a Porsch or a smaller Volvo, (sits too high, weights too much, boarderline SUV, etc.). However, I still would like tires that have top notch wet/dry traction, at least H speed rated, reasonably quiet, etc.

What tires have other XC70 owners used that worked really well?

    tThe one I would strongly reccommend is the Bridgestone Potenza RE960 Pole Position, ex tire, I used them on my 245 and loved them, exceeded the 40k mileage warranty by 10k, best wet handling tire I've ever used, better than the Michelin Exalto. I used H rated, were reasonably priced.

      I have been using the Bridgestone Potenza tires for years on my 740's. Yup, they run nice. Unfortunately, they don't come in the size required for my XC70.

      I see Yokohama AVID ENVigor is a High Performance All Season tire that has the right size. The Tirerack.com site rates the tire very high. Anyone else have experience with this tire on a XC70?

    Hello Gary,

    I too have the all new Blizzak WS-70's (mounted on steel wheels) on my XC-70 WOW is all I can say esp. after the huge snow here in Chicagoland.

    I am also in the market for new all weather tires... I heard General makes a nice, sporty, quiet, nice riding one... Will be doing some more research. Please drop me a line if the spirit moves you. bbecharas@aol.com
