My K&N air filter was very dirty which restricted flow enough such that the intercooler pipe would collapes under higher throttle. Putting the original air filter back in solved my problem.

Glad to see that K&N stopped some of the dirt. I pulled mine because I became convinced it was not filtering the small stuff.
