power antenna ?? 850 95

antenna not going down or up all i here is the clicking and purring of the motor..anyone have a fix for me thanks...

When mine only extended two of the three sections, I tried yanking on it to no avail. So I was ready to replace the mast (part is cheap and the fix is described in the archives). However I was at the dealer and they yanked even harder and now it works. So pull it really hard, if it breaks, it needed fixing anyway!

I would be careful about jerking the mast. The replacement is only $16.50 (wholesale)from the volvo dealer and takes 10 min. to install. If you yank the mast and damage the gear motor, you are out a couple hundred bucks. If you look in the archives of this forum, you will see directions on how to replace the mast. There are also better directions on www.volvospeed.com/bay13

I would first spray WD-40 or Volvo grease (for that part) and let

it settle add a fair amount of it and than pull (!!!hard!!!) but not fast

(to save gears) the give it shot of spray lube and than it should work,

Also lube it before cold weather (winter etc.).
