Dash fan slider switch-defective? 850

1995- 850. It appears that the slider that controls the fan on dash panel is defective. Noticed this morning that the fan was not on. When I jiggled the slider, the fan would go on. It has #'s 1-4. How do I get a new slider/ switch? Anyone have a part #, etc? I hated when I had to replace this panel because of the cables. I would have to take this panel out!!!

I wonder if it could be a resistor instead of the switch.
Just a guess.

Yeah. If you have #4, it should be the resistor. I had the same problem as yours (95 850 too). Do not remember part#. Do a search on this site, you may find what you need.

Well, I don't actually have #4. When I put it in #4, nothing...if I wiggle the handle, or twist it, then it makes a connection. I can make this happen in most of the #'s, but it works best in #4.

A small amount of electric contact cleaner spray might help. With the power off, you might try just sliding the switch from 0-4 a bunch of times to remove any corrosion.

Other than that, you could buy a used unit off Ebay (make sure it is manual and not electronic). Or pull your unit, take off the face and clean the switch contacts.
