Oil Change Questions 850 1994 Turbo

Just a few details about changing the oil in the 850...

1) What size socket is required to remove the drain plug?

2) What size aluminum crush washer is required?

3) What is the proper drain plug tightening torque?

4) Can the filter be loosened with an ordinary filter wrench, or do you need a specially designed one?

Anything else?

Thanks,

Grant

Re: Oil Change Questions 850 1994 Turbo

On my 1994 854 Turbo the drain plug was a 17mm. The aluminum gasket I tossed and used a silicone rubber coated one. The size I can not recall though. My local NAPA had them over the counter. I used a large belt type oil filter wrench to remove my filter. Very easy to get to, just grip the bottom of the filter. I did not look up a torque spec. for the oil plug, just went 1/8th turn beyond snug. Never had one back out or leak yet. One thing about the oil change, when dropping the filter, let it drain for a while once loose or you will get a bath. I let mine drain for about 5 min once loose and I also allow the pan to drain for a few min as well. Usually I use 5.5 quarts of mobile 1. This includes pre-filling the new oil filter part-way prior to installation.

Have fun.

Prospero
