car stutters when starting from stop sign/traffic light. tune-ups were lasting about 6 months before the car started acting up, but this time it started slightly stuttering almost immediately. just before the tune-ups it gets to the point that the car stalls out sometimes. car has about 265,000 miles on it. am trying to decide whether to make it a parts car or keep driving it. thanks!

98 v70 wagon, 96 850 glt wagon 255,000 miles. have also had 95 850 glt wagon totalled with 414,000 miles, 96 850 glt wagon totalled with 306,000 miles, 1982 240 wagon, 1993 240 dl sedan, 1996 volvo turbo wagon (rear ended). looking for a 94-97 850 glt s

    It's probably been a 100,000 miles since the throttle body was cleaned.

    All that is involved with a tune up is plug swapping. If your MPG is low, consider a front O2 sensor replacement. Don't forget to spray clean the MAF sensor.

    Mileage is not a reason to send a Volvo to the bone yard, that is an American or Japanese thing.

        Less than 20mpg around town and less than 25mpg on the highway averaging 65mph.

    Can you test fuel pressure?

    What do your tune ups include (just plugs/wires/cap/rotor or more)? And what do the plugs look like when you change them?

    How old do you think the O2 sensors are?

    Have you ever cleaned out/replaced the PCV system?

    How are your vacuum lines?
