spark plugs 850 95

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 1995 850 TURBO IN EXCELENT CONDITION. WHEN

I WENT TO AUTO ZONE TO GET SOME NEW PLUGS I RAN INTO A LITTLE CON-

FUSION. IN THE CARS MANUAL IT SAYS TO USE CHAMPION # RC7GYC, BUT

WHEN I GOT HOME I NOTICED THAT THE PLUGS THAT I PURCHASED HAD A

# RC9YC ON THE BOX. I CALLED THEM UP & ASKED IF THEY HAD GIVEN ME

THE WRONG PLUGS BUT THE MAN SAID THE NUMBERS WERE DIFFERENT BECAUSE

THEY WERE AFTERMARKET ITEMS, & REASSURED ME THEY WERE THE CORRECT

PLUGS FOR MY CAR. I THINK THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE "7" & "9"

MIGHT BE A HEAT RANGE DIFFERENCE BUT NOT SURE ABOUT THE "G". I WANT

TO PUT THESE IN TODAY SUNDAY JAN. 7TH, SO I WOULD BE THANKFUL FOR

ANY QUICK RESPONSE.

Re: spark plugs 850 95

Champion? I will get some crap for this, but IMHO, Champion are the worst plugs I've ever had the displeasure of removing from an IC engine in 35 years of tinkering...

I have nothing against Bosch, but I have selected NGK as my plug of choice. Yes, they are inexpensive, but don't let that fool you. I run nothing else in my Volvos.

Re: spark plugs 850 95

Hey I agree that the plug issue should have been over by now.

But IMHO and my cars' As a test I have been running AC Delco

RapidFire #9's and they have run consistantly clean, no idle miss

or those rare occasions I ask it for everything a n/a engine will produce.

The car starts when left in 5 degree Kentucky and 95 degree no problem.

That's with the cheapest weasel piss 87 octane I put in it.

With it being n/a, the octane req are much less, and the slight mpg gain

I might get from higher octane gas isn't to me significant

Re: spark plugs 850 95

I'd return them and buy OEM plugs. BTW what's up with all capital letters?

Re: spark plugs 850 95

I recently changed oil and replaced the flame trap at the

same time like the Chilton's manual recomends and was puzzled by

the instructions (and photo) that said do not disconect the hoses,

that is in step 5. In step 6 it says blow out hoses with compressed

air. I really don't quite understand what they are saying to do.

I thought the flame trap's job was to allow the crankcase to breath

so excess pressure would not cause an oil seal to blow. Could some-

one please enlighten me on this issue. Also Santa Claus brought me

a 1995 850 Turbo which I changed the oil in on the 1st day of owing

it. Then noticed that the manual says there is no flame guard in

the turbo models. Why does the GLT have one and the turbo does not.

Any info would be helpful.
