I can't get my 98 V70 into gear unless I push the shift lock button in. Any ideas what the problem is? Prior to this I was having a harder and harder time getting it out of park, now the only way is if the shift lock button is pushed.

    There are several parts to the shift lock. You best bet is to look at the cable that is behind the key portion of the lock. A drop of oil may be all that is needed to free up the cable end.

    There is also a shift lock switch under the center console, just to the right of the shift lever. Switch may need replacing.
