Any recommendations for the above subject matter comletely appreciated - thanks! The original Volvo set is started to sound like they are on their last tour of duty.

    If you were happy with the speakers before they started to fade out, stop by a junkyard and pick up some "newer ones". That's what I did with one of my door speakers when the cone started to un-glue itself. Its much easier to make the speakers fit right in if you get the stock ones as none of the speakers are standard size/mounts.

    If you want to upgrade, you can go either 5x7 or 5.25" speakers and buy/make a bracket to hold them in properly. I've got a nice pair of Alpines 5 1/4s in the rear deck that were ok to mount up.
