Cruise control 850

My cruise control is broken. Well, it has not worked in years. I am going on on trip soon and I have some time to prep the car and I want cruise control. It's not the fuse trust me if it was I would fixed that four years ago. I think it's a vacuum line but I don't have the slitest clue as to which line it could be under the hood.

You are looking in the wrong place. The vacuum for the CC is generated by a pump attached to the bottom of the battery tray. The line comes up from the battery tray and then follows the fender through the firewall and to the top of the brake pedal.

There is a switch on the pedal, two actually (one for the brake lights) that has a vacuum line going in and then continuing to the gas pedal. In most cases, it is the switch that is broken.

If you look carefully under the front of the battery tray, you should be just able to see the vacuum line where it attaches to the pump via an elbow. Pull the line off and/or elbow, and with the engine off, see if you can generate any vacuum by sucking on the line. If there is no vacuum, you need a new brake switch. If there is vacuum, there might be a problem with the on/off switch on the steering column stalk. Pulling a lot of vacuum will actually move the throttle cable.

Okay I have a vacum. So, it's the stick. Okay so how do I go about taking that all apart?? it doesn't look very simple.

Not yet. There is a relay under the hood, a large one next to the 103 fuel pump relay. I am going to send you the PDF for a 1995, close enough.

To take the clamshell off the steering column is a royal pain, there are 4 torx screws, 2 of them require a 5 inch reach.
