'98 V70 Front end clunking, spring seat and swaybar link feel tight

My mom's '98 V70 has a definite clunking over bumps in the right front. But the "usual suspects" seem to be innocent. Turning the top nut encounters firm resistance that springs right back (feels the same as the other side, which has no clunk) and the swaybar link has no movement.

One question: Does this "turning" test show that the spring seat is OK? Or can a bad spring seat still feel OK like this?

I had (and still have) similar "clunking" as I roll over speed bumps, RR tracks, pavement discontinuities, etc. I had my indie check suspension components, motor mounts, etc.; he could find nothing loose or worn. Then, I remembered that the clunking seemed to have begun after a front bumper replacement at my body shop. That may be my cause, but I cannot be sure.

You might check your bumper fasteners for tightness.

Time to check other things, like the front engine mount by the right front wheel.

Or perhaps the ball joint...
