AWD DISABLED - Service Required message XC90

Hi-
I have a 2008 XC90 V8 with 46K that i have been very happy with so far. But I just got this message a couple of times after starting the car, which has subsequently gone away. Guessing it's just some sort of electrical fault. Any one have experience with this and best way to trouble shoot? will this throw any obdII codes? Thanks

Yes, it will store a code. A modern code reader at an auto parts store, borrowed, will probably get you close. The dealer can scan for a better pin point, but they charge money.

Who makes a good code reader for the later models? Son has had problems reading with our code reader on an '01. Ck engine light comes on, but reads no codes.

Not having a laptop, I just go to my local auto parts store and borrow one for free.

The cheapest and best generic scanners are those that come with software and a cable to hookup to a Window based PC. You still get only generic codes (Pnnnn) but that is better than the hand held models that have pass/fail readouts.

        A Google search is fun.
