V70 Auto trans the same as a S70? V70-XC70

Klaus, you had answered another post of mine recently like this:

"The early 5 speeds, 2000-2002 had all sorts of software problems which lead to hardware problems. Hard shifts, torque converter not releasing, and the stance from the factory that the fluid never needs flushing."

...when I had asked about the automatic trans in a 2000 S70. Can you tell me anything about the trans in the V70 wagon? Is it the same transmission?
Does the same comment apply about the 2000-2002 models, that they should be avoided?
