Front right signal light V70-XC70 2001

Right front signal blinks rapidly and triggers message to replace. Is this as difficult to replace as it appears? Looks like the washer fluid tank is in the way and there's no way to simply pull it out like in Volvos of old. Any suggestions?

    If the light works, check the rear turn signal. Otherwise, the owner's manual shows how to change the bulbs.

      Rear signal works. It was the first thing I did. Message says front right signal. Owner's manual instructions are written as if the bulb and socket are in a location with no obstructions. I had my mechanic look at it (an independent Volvo expert/guy) and he has since determined there are no shortcuts and replacing the damned bulb is not as simple as it is in my '93 240 which I always did myself. It appears US car manufacturers have made an impact on the design.
