PNP Replacement Cost 850 1995

Well it seems that I need the dreadfull PNP switch . I just call an independent Volvo shop and was told that it cost about three labor hours or 240 dollars just to replace the part. It seems some what high and was wondering what you guys been paying for the installation. I think that two hours would be a fair price. Thanks for all comments!

Re: PNP Replacement Cost 850 1995

humberto,

Here in Toronto, independant shops charge $60CDN/hr labor. I had my gear position sensor replaced yesterday (which I think people call the PNP switch, but I don't know why). I was charged one hours labor and $111CDN for the part. Total with taxes...$197Cdn which is around $150 U.S.

2-2.5 hours. We usually charge 2.5 plus the $85 part.

Re: PNP Replacement Cost 850 1995

John,

Did you see my posting from yesterday? I was charged 1 hours labor while I waited for the repair. I go to an independent Volvo specialist who at the end of the job, went to the Volvo shop manual and with me looking over his shoulder he looked up the part and the dealer labor rate for that part. It was listed as .7 which is under an hour. My total bill was $111Cdn for the part and $60/hr for the labor. Total with taxes $197Cdn...The guy even did the repair without removing the battery at my request because of my concern of known trip computers crashing after losing power...
