Locked door & backup lights V70-XC70 1998

My '98 V70 T5 has two problems:

1) the right rear passenger door will not unlock, even when the button on the door is pulled. The window works fine. How to access the lock?

2) the backup lights work intermittently. They come on only if the shift lever is wiggled around until they come on. Where is the switch located? Could it be loose or is this smymtomatic for replacement?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Your need two parts replaced, a RR door latch assembly and a gear position sensor (or PNP switch) IF your car has an auto trans. (for the rev light problem).

If it's still under warranty, they're both be free to you and the parts should be in stock.

      Thanks for the info!

Warranty looong gone. Has 76,000 now.

I'm embarassed to mention that the car is a 5-speed, not an auto. Also where would the switch be located? On the trans, or in the cockpit?

As for the door... how to open it if it will not unlock with the manual button? Can the leather panel be removed gracefully from inside, with the door closed? Can a slim-jim be used? Saws-all B-)?

      Thanks again.
