driver's lock sometimes pops up when locking S80 99

Love my S-80 T6 but it's had its share of small, odd troubles.

Is anyone aware of why, when locking the car (either with remote or door button) the driver's door lock pops back open after locking?

The keys are NOT in the ignition and no other doors are open. This happens about 1 out of 5 times while locking the car. Usually, locking it again and again will produce one time which stays locked.

    The lock modules have a switch that indicates internally if it reaches locked position. If it doesn't then it will reverse.

    The bushing where the lock knob comes through the door panel is the fix per some service info from Volvo.

    If something has spilled onto the door panel and the knob is sticky that might do it too.

    Either the lock rod is binding inside the door as John suggested, or the lock button is binding in the bushing going through the door panel. There is a tech net note addressing this problem and modifying the bushing will correct the problem. Should be a warranty repair. Till you get it fixed, the key will override this condition and lock the door.

    I've seen that happen when replacing a door latch assembly if the outer key lock rod is misadjusted. If so, re-adjusting it correctly should fix it.

    Did you have a door latch replaced?

    Sounds like your transmitter unit or key sensing unit in the steering column might be functioning improperly. It may take a dealer visit and a check with the computer to tell for sure. Good luck.
