Low idle problem 850 1994

I have a very strange intermittent problem that just started happening about 4 weeks ago. After about five minutes of driving when I come to a stop the car idles pretty low and vibrates, it never stalls. After about 30 seconds of low idle (half way between 1 and 0) the car recovers and idles normally. From that point on, say I'm in stop and go traffic the car idles low at almost every stop. It will then usual stop the low idle once I've driven the car some distance and gotten the rpms up, but only after it goes through the session of low idles.

It's so strange and I originally thought it was just a bad tank of gas, but it does it on almost all the different brands of gas (Exxon, Amaco, Mobil, Citgo). I don't even know where to start looking and I was hoping someone here could help me out, thanks.

Thanks in advance

Scott K

Re: Low idle problem 850 1994

I had a similar problem not too long after I purchased my '95 850 turbo in 1995. Took the dealership forever to figure out what was wrong with it. Turned out to be a faulty O2 sensor. Funny thing is, it didn't trip the CHECK ENGINE light but I had those same symptoms as you but every so often, the car would stall (usually on a cold start in the morning and not in stop and go traffic). Have it checked out, good luck with it.

Same thing, I have a 95 Turbo and it has done this to me twice in traffic once about a month ago and recently yestarday.
