One more transmission post 850 1994

After Sniper posted, I decided to have someone actual look at the ATF to see if it was indeed burnt. I sent my Stepfather out to the shop and he said it is "beyond burnt....it is the worst smelling stuff he's ever smelled". Given that, I'm going with the transmission replacement.

    mike from sydney,

Annette is determined to get the new tranny regardless of what we all say. She will not flush or replace PNP. What can you say.

What can we say - Cest La Vie!

I know that it is not so often that the opportunity presents itself for me to possibly save myself from unnecessarily losing four thousand aussie dollars. I guarantee that I will continue to jump at such opportunities! (and continue to thank the wonderful resource of Brickboard which gives me enough information & community with other owners that I don't feel alone and at the mercy of every unscrupulous auto specialist!)

    Annette,

I Don't think I have followed all of your previous threads, but it seems to me that if your transmission is running poorly and the ATF is obviously ruined, then it would be good to see how it runs with new fluid. I recently had problems and had shops telling me that I needed a new tranny ($`000's)or new PNP / gear position selector ($`00's), but I just changed the fluid and all was well. I believe that this is always the first place to start and due to it's relative inexpensiveness it is a worthwhile gamble, even if the tranny is deceased.

    Good Luck.
