1998 S70 GLT, 226K miles. Getting a code for failed intake air temperature sensor. Does this car have one? If so, where is it located?
Thanks!

    I have a second thought on this code. There is an air-temp sensor for passenger cabin air intake. It is located under the cabin air filter. If the cabin air filter is dirty and resticts intake air a code will be thrown. This applies to factory installed cabin filter systems. If you retro-fit a filter on older 850's it will not throw a code unless the dealer reprograms the ECC. Just a thought.

    Better give us the code so we can track it down for you.

    There have been two things suggested;
    - the thermostat in the air filter box, which I'm pretty sure is not connected to the ECU in any way
    - the temperature sensor in the driver's side air dam, which is definitely connected to the ECU but it's for measuring the ambient air temperature

    AFAIK there is no sensor for intake air temperature - it's calculated indirectly using the Mass Air Flow sensor combined with the ambient air temperature taken from the aforementioned sensor.

    It's in the airbox for the air filter. Is the air filter clean?

      And I always thought it was the sensor stuck in the small grill on the drivers side bumper for a turbo. But I never had one fail on me.
