Keyless Entry 850 95

Greetings volvo owners! I recently purchased a used 95 850 turbo. I'm interested in keyless entry. Is keyless entry standard on the 850 turbo, what year volvo keyless entry beepers will work with my car, where should I look to find one and what would I expect to pay? And can I activate it myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rob

Re: Keyless Entry 850 95

Scroll down as there was a thread that dealt with this very topic a few days ago. If I recall, I think keyless entry was standard and that you can sometimes get the remotes on ebay. Otherwise, I would check a recycler such as Erie Volvo, or one of the other sponsors of the BB. As a last resort, try mailorder from a dealership such as Nils Sefeldt in Houston or Verrigni (sp?) Marine.

Re: Keyless Entry 850 95

Hello,

i have asked this question many times on various forums and spoken to four or five local dealers-all were unfortunately vague.

I finally got a dealer to check my license number with Volvo themselves but this is a difficult option to choose.

Apparently they started to fit them as standard on the T5 in 1994 but there were a number of problems and a large number were disconnected during service or as fixes under warranty.

The only real way to see if it is fitted (and working) is to go to a dealer and borrow the one for your car (there are 2 types) and try to program it-ignition on and off 5 times, the fifth time leave ignition on and press either button on the remote then ignition off and try it!

Oh you must have all doors closed.

Hope this helps,

Ian
