HEAVY Trunk 850 1995

My trunk feels like it weighs about a hundred lbs.....whats up with this?

I am guessing it is the shock looking things that hold it up...any thoughts on repair , can I order this myself and fix myself.

    They often fail this time of year. Ipd sells them for around $30 each. They are a little tricky to replace as the front end of the strut locks in place but access is difficult. I used a prybar to reach in and remove and then gently press the new one into place. I think that is the best way. Haynes says to remove part of the rear seat but I don't think that makes it any easier.

      Same problem with my 1994 850.

      My Volvo dealer only charged me about $100 CDN to replace both struts.

      Just dropped off the car, watched a bit of TV in the waiting room and viola the car was done in less than a hour!

        That was a great price !

        Better check your invoice carefully though- the replacement struts from volvo are 45-55 USD each and the trunk requires 2 .
