Connecting an oil pressure gauge V70-XC70 2000

I'd like to put an oil pressure gauge on a 2000 FWD famous five cylinder engine ( T5 ? ). Does anyone know where the oil pressure sensor is located on that engine ? What do people do when the threads on the U.S made sensor don't match the threads on the Swedish engine block?

Thank you for your time and consideration of this question

Facing the front of the car. I suggest hooking up a gauge using 2 Y spade connectors on the original sender, allowing the original wire harness to communicate to the ECU, and a new set of wires to go to your gauge.

You might be able to see it from under the car...

Thank you Klause as always for your advice over the years. I'm a little surprised by this. Can an oil pressure gauge made by Marshall instruments be connected to an oil pressure sender made by Bosch probably, and still display an accurate pressure reading? I always thought that the sending unit in the car was simply an on-off switch that is flipped on when pressure drops below 20 pounds or thereabouts. I would love that it be as easy as you mention though ! I'm interested in this because the car is going to pull a trailer and I once had a seal in the oil pick-up tube wear out and reduce pressure but not enough to be fatal

If the bosch sender output matches our sender output it will work. If it doesn't then you can't use the bosch sender with the gauge.

If you get the SCX based gauge you can use the low alarm function as your "idiot light".

        Sincerely,

        Paul Bradley

          Thank you Klaus V70-XC70 2000

I will try your idea. If it doesn't work, then I'll remove the sensor and put in the gauge sensor. If the disconnected factory sensor causes the car computer to think it has no oil pressure and go into limp home mode, then I'll figure out some way to rearrange the plumbing of the oil sensor port so that both sensors can be connected to it, perhaps a small block of bronze with a sensor on each end attached at the port of the block. Thank you Klaus

            towing V70-XC70 2000

I realize your concern about oil pressure and towing. If I were towing, I would also like to have an ATF temp gauge, along with an extra radiator for the ATF. It should have a solenoid to open the valve to the extra cooler when it reaches operating temps.

Don't forget to flush the ATF after towing a lot.

I hope the Bosh sender works for you! Let us know.
