seat cable replacement 850 93

Hi, my driver's seat is stuck in the drive-by position and the crook/dealer

said it would be about $400 to replace the power seat cable that is the cause. WHen I mentioned the problem, it seemed to be a common problem for them. Is there some sort of recall for this (doubt it)? Is $400 the going rate for this fix? ANyone know how to do this fix oneself?

Thanks!!

Re: seat cable replacement 850 93

I just replaced the cables in both front seats of my 95 Volvo 850 - as per the outstanding illustrated direction at Bay 13.

The guys at the dealership were so impressed I thought they'd offer me a mechanic job on the spot.

Fairly simple mechanical repair. It is the upholstery that requires the corect tools and patience.

Get the exact Bent Nose Hog Ring Pliers from Eastwood Co. as recommmended by Bay 13 along with a bag of hog rings.

The proper tools really helps!

The driver side seat is a bit more difficult than the passenger side due to the configuration of the gears motors....do not despair, just logic thru following the Bay 13 instructions.

Hey, Does the dealer rewally charge $400 per seat to do this -wow!

Parts were $45 per seat- I saved $700 !?!

Go to www.volvospeed.com. They have instructions and pictures in their "Bay 13".
