ECU+CAT update+crazy Volvo Driver S40-V40 2000

Still no CHIP, but this time Tony Ricci told me what was going on! Sounds like the programmer was still not doing any work due to his dad being ill. He also told me he would get in contact with Gaic to have them start working on the ECU code. Hope it doesn't take too much longer...wait....wait.....wait....wait....shhhhish....anyday now.....

I don't know if I am going to have my chip for the race this weekend :(

S40 Vs Turbo Civic HB.

I've come to notice a few things on not having the second cat. First, I always notice a decrease in RPM or drain in power when cold while bearly pressing the gas with the cat installed, now it revs like a normal engine without the cat! Second, overall performance has seemed to increase.

Yesterday, the amount of people on the road seemed doubled, my exit was coming up about 1/8 of a mile up and no signs of any breaks except near the end of the exit! This may sound stupid an un Volvo type, but I just gunned it knowing no one would let me in the exit lane near the front and not wanting to get hit in the rear trying to enter the exit lane, so I was up from 50mph to 85-90mph in just under a few seconds with my screaming IPD exhaust with no cat, I was able to squeeze into a space near the end of the exit making my trip home in record time. Scared my wife, but the way this exit is setup is just plane stupid with an entrance entering this exit lane! I like going fast, so why not go fast in style and safety! Maybe this will increase S40 sales, most people assume Volvo are SLOW, so seeing one scream past might make a future owner that like the speed of a sports car but need the every day safety, room, and stlye of a Volvo!

What do you fools do when.. S40-V40 2000

the person you just did a flyby on gets out of his car at the next stoplight - drags you out of your busted drivers side window - and teaches you a little life lesson?

Do really think ALL the other people you SHARE the road with are going to see you as a non-threat? I think you will be very surprised the day you're boxed in at stoplight - and the gravity of your actions become CRYSTAL CLEAR as someone is booting in the ENTIRE SIDE of you're precious Volvo.

BTW - my summer toy is a caged/tubbed/nitroused 800+hp street-strip car - so please don't tell me that I don't understand the "racer" in you.

Time and a place for everything. Nobody really minds you killing yourself - BUT DON'T INVOLVE MY FAMILY IN YOUR STUPIDITY.

    MAT

Re: What do you fools do when.. S40-V40 2000

#1. Why resort to violence? Don't we have enough of it already? I've been cut off, almost hit, had trash thrown out of a vehicle in front of me causing me to almost hit another vehicle beside me, witnessed accidents happen behing me cause someone wasn't paying attention to on on ramp, etc., etc.. Sure i've had the urge of wishing there was something I could do to make those people pay, but hey, the way I look at it is, what comes around goes around. It's not up to me to decide what happens to who, that's up to the big guy upstairs.

#2. What kind of a threat are we? I'm sure Anthony will agree we don't drive reckless and insane like some teenage kid who just got some. I've never put anyone elses life in danger (at least I don't think so) I only speed when the rest of the traffic is moving at 80+MPH or the freeway is clear (which is only about 1-4AM in the morning, which by the way is when I got pulled over, I work late alot ok!) If driving your car for enjoyment is against the law then we should all be caged in jail. No hostility here, just my point of view.

        I concur 100%....also S40-V40 2000

around here the bars close at 03:00, and there quite a few drunks, and a few of these "Ricky Racer" types on the road, and many fatal ONE CAR crashes during the hours you guys do your speeding. For this reason(and others)law enforcment will cach up with you soon......just remember the odds.

Look, I like to drive fast also.....but I dont try to see how many people I can piss-off when I do it.

Driving is a privilege....not a right, and your privileges will be suspended if you keep it up.

Sounds like 50% of the exits/entrances on California highways.

Does your state have an annual inspection or smog certification --

I don't see how you could pass inspection without a cat.

The car still has a cat next to the Turbo. We don't have inspections here :) Unlike Houston, they didn't do a good Job inspecting there anyways!

    Re: ECU+CAT update+crazy Volvo Driver S40-V40 2000

    Anthony,

Until the other day while driving home through 90 mph traffic did I remember why I bought a Volvo. TO DRIVE FAST! After my first speeding ticket in over 3 1/2 years I have been more cautious and listening to the annoying radar detector I decided to purchase. Without the cat the S40 is noticably quicker and more responsive while still retaining its high speed "moves". I especially like it when people blow their horn at me for flying past them, I wonder what they are thinking when they read the "Drive Safely" logo on my rear glass??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!

As for the Honda Civic race, why don't you take that guy up to about 120mph and see how it goes? LOL!!
