I recently added the ipd TME ECU upgrade and want to add the ipd Sport Exhaust. It sounds like a simply job with the proper equipment. I am just concerned about the apperence and sound of the vehicle. I want my volvo to stay a "luxury" car, but want to safe gaurd the cat. con. DOes the ipd Sport Exhaust make your Volvo sound Ghetto and does the tail pipe end make your Volvo look like a cheap Honda that some 16 year old just slapped on the end of his car.

I can only comment on the TME exhaust on my S40, but it works great there. It's very quiet at low to medium revs and a nice 'growl' when you're in boy-racer mood.

Idling produces a very nice low rumble, which (when standing next to the car) you sometimes actually feel instead of hear.

Noise level inside the car stayed pretty much the same. Perhaps a little more of a low exhaust note, but that's a very nice sound and not tiring or 'droning' at all.

Exhaust tip is polished stainless steel and is not too big. Yes it's bigger than the standard S40 tip, but still well proportioned with the rest of the car.

All in all I'm pretty happy with it..

Go into the aftermarket site of the brickboard and look for Raffi's posting on Supersprint exhaust. He has a photo taken of the exhaust system that he had recently installed. The website for the photo is www.volvospy.com\photos. The exhaust tip is a lot better looking than IPD's and not a bit ghetto.

The exhaust note is "throaty" under light or neutral throttle but under acceleration it is no noisier than the stock exhaust (interesting, eh?). I don't find it to be obtrusive - if anything I seem to hear it more from in the vehicle than from outside.

The exhaust tip is chromed and round rather than rectangular. It's not as big as the "boy racer" Honda Civic pipes I've seem but is more noticeable. A muffler shop can probably offer different shapes that will fit the actual exhaust pipe if you find the ipd tip inappropriate.

I agree with Steve's response. I have noticed the same with mine. I have been very pleased with it. It does let the turbo spool up faster. The tip is not as obtrusive as the ricey honda exhausts. Mine barely clears the rear bumper cover but you can notice it from the side of the car. I had a muffler shop install it for about $65. That sounded resonable and saved me a lot of time and skin from my knuckles!
