struts/shocks S70 1998

'98 NA, with what I suspect is original suspension, 92k, creaky and groany...looking for somewhat than stiffer than stock, not to make a race car out of my ride...KYB AND bILSTEIN seem to be a bit stiff, based on the reviews I've read online, plenty of potholes and ruts in my part of the country, don't want to lose a filling drivin' around...suggestions anybody?? also, going to r'n'r strut mounts as well....heard XC70/XC 90 mounts are a direct fit upgrade??? thanks to all for opinions and advice...

The XC90 strut mounts. Bilstein HDs.

When you take off the ABS sensor, there is a small plastic punch out piece that releases it from the strut.

Our '98 T5 now has 135K on it. I put Bilstein HD on 6 years ago plus IDP sway bars. It still handles perfectly today, but I desire a firm suspension and moma does not complain.

The sway bar, rear, I used is from IPD. It doesn't look anything the front, but works well. Our 850 wagon did not have one but we added it. Holes are already in place. May want to look at IPD site for instructions.

XC90 bushings are not year dependent. No, the rear has delta links and no suitable attachment point for the center part of a swaybar. HD shocks will make a huge difference.

bought the ipd swaybar kit....so the rear is useless for an S70? no mention of that in the vehicle application description for the kit.....

With the weight and driving wheels on the front for 850/70 cars, I see little to no gain by installing a rear antisway bar. Of course, if you like to race, that is a different animal, it is fun lifting the inside rear wheel :)

On my V70R, I did manage to lift the inside rear wheel a couple of times. Once, I managed to bind the axle CV joint and had to come to a complete stop to let it release - that was a little scarry. AWD is a different beast.

so a rear sway bar WON'T install in an S70? just ordered kit from ipd, comes w/both a front and a rear bar...re-sell to an 850 owner? no mention on website that it would not work...gonna check those delta link bushings while I am at it...

I just looked at IPD install PDF. Yes, it will mount on the rear.

I was just thinking like older rear sway bars like the 240/740 cars. Totally different. I like the way that IPD solved the problem, but if you are not going to Autocross, I don't see much use for the rear bar.
