Rebate Offer V70-XC70 01

Just got a $1000 rebate check offer from Volvo covering

buyers S80 and V70 models. Does this mean that offers might be coming on other models as well? Are sales down or inventory up?

Rich, whose lease will be up this spring.

    The Certificate for $1000 will be mailed to those Volvo owners whose contracts mature anywhere from February 1, 2001 to June 30, 2001. You must show proof that as of January 22nd, 2001 you are the owner of any MY1996 to MY2000 850, 960, C70, S70 or V70 in order to qualify. Furthermore, those who do not receive the Certificate through the mail, can (as long as they qualify) go to their Retailer who can get them the Certificate via a special website.

    The Certificate is good towards the lease or purchase of any 2001 Volvo S80 or 2001 V70 (XCs excluded). Retired Courtesy cars are not eligible. Furthermore, if you use that Certificate, you will also get a $500 Referral Certificate that can only be used by a third party in order for them to get one of the aforementioned eligible Volvo models. This offer will expire April 30, 2001.

    Sales are way down for almost all makes (Chrysler is in the

    biggest trouble -- offering incentives on the latest minivan

    which they promised to never do). Even Toyota is offering

    incentives now (which they rarely do). Strikes me as a good

    time to negotiate a deal if you have the cash.

    Was the rebate a surprise? Did you apply for it or know about it? Should I be watching my mailbox? $1000 back would soften the edges of some of the problems I've been having with this beast.

      I think he got an offer for $1000 rebate if he buys a new

      Volvo. They send these out on occasion to existing Volvo

      owners to provide an incintive to trade in/up (I have

      gotton a couple in past 5 years).
