Potential New Volvo owner

Hello. A friend of mine with lots of Volvo experience recommended this site to me in my potential purchase of a Volvo wagon. I am looking at a 2007 V50-T5 and a 2007 V70. I am interested in your thoughts on these vehicles. Never having owned a Volvo, but heard lots of great things, any insight on these models would be great. Thanks very much.

Mike

Both of those cars are nice and reliable. The V50 is no longer made for the USA market, so interior and body trim parts will be scarce in the junkyards. The V50 drivetrain is shared among other Volvos so that is not a problem.

Take a good test drive. Park in a parking lot stall to gauge the turning radius. If you are going to DIY maintenance, the the used cars will be affordable. Dealers charge too much and don't really do much in the way of preventative maintenance.

Both of those cars will easily go 200K miles. If you buy from a used car lot, take a deduction if there is no maintenance history. You might want to spend $100 to have a pre-purchase inspection. Carfax does not record wrecks if the cost of repair is less than salvage price.
