Hi all, my seatbelt will not release from its retracted position. I have tried all the release/ slow pull methods and despite a little movement the belt will not release, and of course i have tried it with the car on the flat level surface. Any suggestions gratefully accepted. Thanks David

To be safe, I suggest getting a new belt. What happens is one of the 2 pins that holds the inertia ring has slipped/bent out of position. It is possible to bend it back in 'shape' and reinstall it, but I would never trust the belt to do what it is supposed to do after that.

Yes, new belts are expensive. But breaking your sternum is more expensive.

Which belt?
Assuming it's one of the fronts, you may want to try removing the seat side cover and then remove the bolt holding the dumb end of the seat belt from the seat frame.
Perhaps you can then work some of the belt back into the retractor to free up the pawl.
