Replace cam seals at 140k miles? S70 1998

Almost ready to start the major belt, water pump etc. change. No leaks noted on any seals but wonder if I should do the seals also? Also noted this uses the newer belt tension device which I have not done before. New experiences and fun?

Just replaced my belt, tensioner, idler pully, and water pump. My cam seals were just starting to leak(178K)so replaced with volvo oem, 12 dollars each from dealer. Inspect the seals if they are starting to weep replace them.

Leave the seal alone! Do not touch them. They only leak when the crankcase pressure gets too high.

The manual tensioner gets set according to ambient temperature, do this before installing.

"...The manual tensioner gets set according to ambient temperature, do this before installing..."

Are you're talking about this type of tensioner?

If so, how do you set it before installing? The mounting bolt is what locks it down.

Yes, I agree that's the adjustment procedure. My point is that you can notmake the adjustment BEFORE installing as you indicated. You can only make the final adjustment after it's hanging on the engine and the belt is pressing against it.
