window problems and now ABS light after work done... ??? V70-XC70 2000

I noticed my passenger window (rear driver) was not going up. I fiddled around with it for a bit but knowing I had a complete replacement door in my basement, I just exchanged the whole thing, peeled off the panel, replaced the speaker, etc. Now, the window will not function at all. Just like the previous window. It could be that this window regulator is also bad, but the chances are slim. To add insult to injury, my ABS and TRACS lights are both on. I am going to check codes for that when I have teh chance, but what is up with that and does it have any bearing on why the window will not function?

I forgot the ignition switch could be the cause of the abs light. try jiggling the key slightly. thhe electrical portion ov the ign switch is a very common failure too

In the family V70, the R rear window stopped working. Both its switch and the master switch in the driver door had to be replaced. All is well now but at some expense, obviously.

ABS and TRACs kinda go together as TRACS uses the brakes to exert control.

I would try turning the TRACS switch off and on a few times to clean it. You might also try driving a little bit with the TRACS off and then trying it again before you get to more desperate measures.

The only window issues that I have had involve the switches.

On 740s you can remove the switches, disassemble them, and clean the contacts. In my experience, these switches get flaky first when the window is going up as the motor is doing more work and draws more current.

What trouble shooting did you do before you took the door off?

I did not do a lot of trouble shooting except to check for a bad switch at
the door (looked pretty far gone but had been working. Other than that
quick look, I didn't do much else.

BTW, I *highly* suspect the dash lights to be linked to the non-working
window, because there was no lights (exc the radiator light) on before this
little window episode. When I restarted the car (after not disconnecting
the battery while replacing the door), the TRACS and ABS lights were on.
So... a little too coincidental to be unrelated, IMO. But, how they are
related, I have no idea.

Thanks for any future suggestions. I 'm going to hook up my Chinese sensor
to this and see if the Torque Android app can tell me anything.

There is absolutely no way the abs and the window are related. the only thing they have in common is they both uuse 12 volts. your master window switch likely took a dump and the abs issue is coincidental. Volvo abs control units are notorious for bad solder joints. search "Victor Rocha"

The ABS is not related.

Did you know that the passenger window wires pass through the main switch on the driver's door? That could be the fault. If the panel is still off the door, check for voltage before you do any more work.

I can just pop off the panel on the front door to see if there's an issue.
However, since the wires are contained in a plug, I'm not sure how only one
window's wires would be affected...?

Carefully pry up the switch module on the driver's door, then you can get a testor to detect current in the wires. Don't let the plug wires fall inside the door! :>)

There are places that repair the main switch, but I suggest looking around for a new one rather than trying to disassemble the one in hand. A junk yard may have a cheap one for backup, 1998-2000 works.

I don't like taking off door panels in these models because of the ease of breaking tabs and plastic fasteners.
