I need to replace my present wiper blades and wondered if anyone has a good recommendation other than the standard Bosch ones.

I really like the new blades with the internal spring. Just watch out for the "A" & "B" designation, you want the wind deflector to be on the top and not in the middle.

Measure the current rubber part of the blade, you will probably find that you can go one inch loger than stock size

For those reading this and wondering about the rear wiper for the V series, I replaced my 1998 with a PIAA wiper which worked much better than stock. It never streaked.

Just bought new blades (Michelin) a few days ago at my local Costco....$12 a pop...cheaper than Volvo dealer @ $32 each. Haven`t put them on yet.
Will be replacing the rear on the XC soon....thought I`d have to buy Volvo for the rear. According to you there is an alternative; PIAA. Where is this brand available? I have not seen PIAA anywhere here in Canada, specifically, Alberta. I`ll be going to Montana next month...is this available at AutoZone or ?

The rear wiper blade for the 850/70 cars up to 2000, had a metal wiper arm like the fronts. Your car may not have it, but the all plastic encased wiper assembly. If so, you are out of luck. I don't think you can attach a flat wiper blade to the rear of your XC.

Actually, while PIAA are really good, there is nothing wrong with the flat wiper blades from any other maker, like Bosh or RainX.

Your XC has 2 different sized blades, 24" driver side and 22" passenger.

On a side note, why can't all car makers set up wipers like those on the little ford Focus. The wiper posts are both outboard, so when the wipers run, they clear the entire windshield! Besides, no mods need to be made for right hand drive cars. Check it out some time.
