850 seat swap: manual to power 850

Got a 'new used' pair of front seats for the old '94 volvo. passenger one is power, but my base model has a manual passenger seat. mountings look like they will fit - is there any way I can just jump the wires from the driver's side over to the passenger side power plug terminal to get the power function?

If not, will it be easy to strip the power set-up off the seat, and then mount it to the manual rack?

thanks
mark

Too bad you didn't get the wiring for the seat, there is an under dash plug for it. The Haynes manual has a wiring diagram for the power seat which might be useful in determining which is power and which is ground. The seat does plug into a relay and normal power for the passenger seat does not work until the key is in at least pos II.

You could remove the cover from your old seat and swap in the newer cover.

Yes, the seats are bolt compatible.

If you had access to a pick&pull, a wire loom from a donor car would be perfect. Then you just plug it in, plug in the relay, and have fun.

Someone on the 120-130 section put a set of power/heated seats from an S60 into his 122S.

thanks Klaus...might try and go back for the wiring, this way I get the power.

if I cant, I still wanted to use the whole seat, as the heated elements work, mine are long gone. so rather than just swap the covers, i wanted to remove the power seat from the frame which attaches it to the car, and mount it on the manual frame which attaches to the car. this way, if i don't get the wiring for power, I can use newer seat with working heating unit. can this be done? seems to me the mounting is different but havent pulled the manual seat just yet.

thx

No frame swap, much too difficult. It will be much easier to just remove the skins and heater and transfer them to your old seat frames. You can also swap the foam if you want.

The electrical motors are mounted on the frame, the manual adjustments are in different places on the frame.

Check out this long involved thread. Remember, the 122 only has 4 fuses. http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/1407338/120-130/s60_seats_122.html

thanks - having taking a closer look I see what you mean...I would've thought that would be a simple swap but the whole frame construction looks different...I will try and get the wiring.
