ABS Issue? S70 1999

While driving home last night a bizarre set of circumstances began to unfold with my 1999 S70 T5. The first thing I noticed was that my dash lights and headlights pulsed when I tapped the brakes. After a few miles the ABS and Check Engine lights came on. Then as I was exiting the freeway, the headlights began to intermittently turn off for a brief moment every minute or two. I’m thinking that this might be the ABS module, but would welcome any other thoughts.

    ABS Issue? S70 1999

First things first. Get your codes read, most autoparts stores will do that for free. And there should be more than one.

If the flickering lights coincided with hitting small bumps, check the battery post terminals. The ABS module has nothing to do with the lights dimming, but a bad connection at the alternator could, or a bad ground wire from the engine to the frame.

    How are your engine mounts?

Did you actually get the ABS module replaced or repaired?

      ABS Issue? S70 1999

I drove the car around the block this morning and neither the ABS or the check engine lights came on. The issue with the pulsing dash lights was however still present. I thought about the battery terminal connections as well at that point and when I lifted the covers the terminals were indeed very fouled. I have since cleaned them and will give the car an extended test drive in a little while. Thanks for the response. Oh, I had the ABS module replaced with a new one.
