Found 2" bolt on the floor, passenger side 850

Got in the car this morning, and to my surprise there was a black, two-inch or so long bolt just lying on the floor underneath the glovebox. I looked under the kickplate and near the passenger door, underneath the glove box, briefly, looking for something obvious but didn't see anything although I haven't really had time to scour that area. I did notice this morning while driving in to work that the dash seemed to make a almost scraping sound when I hit a bump, which is now starting to worry me. Any idea where that bolt might have come from?

    N,

It sounds like one of the bolts securing the knee bolster. Should be a 13 or 14 mm head.

Has the metal bolster below behind the soundproofing panel been removed to service the blower motor or resistor? I believe it is torqued to +/- 21 ft lbs.

If the bolster is loose that would account for the scraping noise.

    Good luck,
    Bryan

Look for a bolt hole at the bottom of the dash, closest to the door. If the dash corner is loose, probably a good bet.

It would be nice to know if it was a hex or torx, I am assuming a 10mm hex.
