Brakes - Rotors and Pads 850 97 T5

Time for new pads and rotors. I realize this is a fairly common topic, but I couldn't find what I was looking for in the archives. Is IPD the best place to get them? I heard in the past that the PBR pads on the front and stock volvo on the rear was the best bet for pads. Where can I get the best prices? Any and all help appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Brakes - Rotors and Pads 850 97 T5

Hi,

I've just replace the pads and rotors on mine, but used the Axis metal master pads like IPD sells. They work smoothly, but squeal. It seems hard to get rid of the squeal on the pads despite cleaning and lube. This is the second time with new rotor and new pads, but still having squeal. I thought they might have improved the pads, but apparently not so. Perhaps OEM is the way to go.

I've seen to many posts here with problems with the after-market

stuff. For brake components, I would stick with OEM.

Re: Brakes - Rotors and Pads 850 97 T5

Why go aftermarket at all?

I just replaced my front rotors and all pads on my 95 turbo 850.

Stock fronts yield me only about 23,000 miles - but hey, easy to replaces and very quiet.

Rear volvo pads lasted 56,000 miles and rear original rotors good for another 40,000 miles.

Seriously - what do you hope to gain? I know IPD sells some good stuff , but again, Volvo makes good brake parts.

Just my thoughts - not trying to start any arguments.

Try volvoparts.com for good pricing.
