How to sell your dead cat converter 850

I know that old cat converters are highly prized by the salvage guys.
Now I have to replace my cat converter and wonder if anyone has checked out
the salvage people for the best price?
When I junked my old 740, the guy came by with a tow truck and told me that the
original cat converters were worth a lot of loot, much more than the after market
jobs. He said that he wanted only the cat converter and wasn't going to part out the car. I could strip anything off the car and he didn't care...I grabbed the
battery.

It must be that early cat converters had much more rare metals that they
hope to recycle. A quick look on the web shows people offering various amounts.

Does anyone have a sense what the 850 cat is worth as salvage?

How to sell your dead cat converter 850

Supposedly, there are some places online that take used cat.s From another online forum I found out that they would have given me around $80 for the old cat. on my daughter's '01 S40.

I had already taken it to a local metal scrapyard that gave me $15. At the time I was shocked that they gave me so much for it! I had no idea that the going rate at other places was so high.
