Front anti-sway bar mounts V70-XC70 1998

Replaced the anti-sway bar end-links on the wifemobile this morning. As always I am confounded by the need to lever the bar down to do this. One of these days I'm going to replace the bars completely and do away with this, but meanwhile, does anyone know what the logic behind the pre-loaded, bonded bushings was?

Well, car makers could have made solid connections, but that would mean some other component would have to take the stress. The simple end links do a lot of work and are much cheaper to replace. Buying IPD brand links will make them last for at least 5 years.
