A similar problem has been posted before regarding malfunctioning remotes. My problem is that when I open the doors with my remote, the seat goes to the proper position but the sideview mirrors go to the position for my wifes position. In other words, her remote puts the seats and mirrors into position #1 and my remote puts the seat into position #2 and the mirrors into position #1. Then to top it all off, this does not happen 100% of the time, maybe about 75%. This will make it difficult for the techs to find the problem. Does anyone have a similar problem? Anyone know of the fix? Thanks all very much

I put a number of posts here,concerning my remotes last month. The trouble is, after 4 weeks, the dealer still has my car(I have a loaner). Volvo(Sweden)keeps promising delivery of new remotes for my car every 3-5 days, then, they put it off another week. It seems with the 01 models, remotes have unique PIN numbers. And, the only way(so I am told by the dealer)we can try to solve my "panic button" problem, is to order brand new remotes, specifically programmed to my car's serial number! --AND(supposedly)these can only come from one source in Sweden.

My problem is with an ultra-sensitive Panic Button. Although, I did notice some other weird things happen(like the fuel filler door locking and not being able to unlock it), some interior lights and the sunroof stopped working for a while, then started working, etc. etc. To my knowledge, I have not had a problem with the mirrors and seat memory as you have--but, I've kinda forgotten what it is like to drive my new 01 XC--since I've been bummin around in the '98 S70 loaner for over a month!

Early production '01s had incorrect and/or corrupted software loaded in the UEM. (Upper Electric Module) This processor controls remote function, among other things. The dealer has info on checking the software in the car and reloading/replacing it along with parts if necessary. BTW, the seat/mirror adjustments that are in place when the car is locked WITH THE REMOTE are stored FOR THAT REMOTE. It is not an instant memory lock- I believe it takes 10-15 minutes AFTER locking for the positions to be stored.

Sorry about the delay in answering. I pulled the info off the VADIS cart at work and then had problems with my ISP so I couldn't answer until now. ALL dealers have access to this info. They can start with Tech-Net Note 88-19. I had an '01 XC just today that one remote worked correctly, the other tripped the alarm with any of the buttons. Replacing the remotes fixed the car. I have been a Master Volvo Tech since '85. I work at Sill-Terhar Motors in Broomfield, CO.

Hey Dave, took me 4 weeks to get my new remotes--how long is it taking your dealership???

I ordered the remotes 2/26 and received them 2/27 on an overnight order. They may have gotten a shipment in at the warehouse recently. The new remotes have TWO PIN codes- one 16 character and one 8 character VS the old style that had one 8 character string. It takes a SW download and entry of the PIN codes to program the remotes.
