Workshop Manual? V70-XC70 1999

Hello-

I wanted to buy a workshop manual for my V70 but all I can find is Volvo's proprietary manuals which they sell by 'section' or the whole set for $3222.00!! Anyone know a solution? I think that if you were working on your car following the manual, it would end up referencing a section you didn't purchase and you'd have to guess at procedures. My Mazda manual is complete but does refer you to other sections to complete tasks, like "remove xyz assembly as described in sec 4-23".

Haynes and Chilton don't have a manual. Anyone have a solution besides taking the car in to a shop?$$$

Thanks

Sam

Actually Haynes does have a manual for your car -- almost. I have a 2000 XC and I just picked up the European version Haynes has for the V/S/C 70 series. IPD has them for approx. $35. It looks to be a pretty good manual. From looking through it, I have yet to find anything that only applies to European cars, except a short section on MOT (UK's version of the DMV) yearly inspection checks. One note -- it specifically does not cover the AWD system, which I didn't know before I ordered it. But the book looks like it'll be pretty useful until a US version comes out, hopefully covering the AWD hardware.

Thanks Chip. I Emailed Haynes US yesterday and their response was that they print manuals based on projected sales and so far in the US there is not enough demand for the V70 so far, although that "could" change. I guess I'll try to pick up the Euro version instead.
