ignition help? 850 1994

Hello, popped into my local dealer today to see what they can do about my starter motor staying engaged if i don't time the release of the key correctly.

Also the TRACS and ABS lights stay illuminated until i twiddle the key.

They say that it is most likely the ignition contact that attaches to the back of the ignition and, "no problem, the part is £34.00 and it'll take about 1 hour to fit, should cost no more than £105.00!!!!!!!!"

Jesus i knew they were expensive but i didn't know they charged £70.00 an hour.

Anyway, i wondered if this was a DIY job, anyone with ignition experience that can help?

Thanks,

Ian

drop the lower panel right behind the steering wheel, On the left side you will see the electrical portion of the ignition switch. Un-plug wire and 2 screws later, you are done. Tracs and abs light , change the ignition electircal portion first since you say you can move key and cure but the abs control unit, mounted near the brake fluid res. has been the culprit for these lights many times. Expensive, so have checked first, if ig. switch does not fix all. hope this helps......
