Winter Ice Light 850 1997

Anyone know how this "ice" light works? I was up in snow country recently and the light would come on at times when the temp gauge indicated over 32 degrees, yet sometimes the light would not come on when the temp gauge would read as low as 18 degrees?

Mike is correct. The information is in your owners manual. Between those temperatures ice is most likely to form if the roads are wet. For ice to form on roads water needs to be in the liquid form then frozen. Colder temperatures usually mean that water will only be in the frozen state so not much chance of "glare ice" forming when snow melts and refreezes or freezing rain.

I think it's just and indicator of possibility of ice formation and to be careful. I think it's on between 25 - 36 degrees.
