I often hear a weird ticking noise from over my left shoulder as I drive. It might be the leather from the headrest or wind noise from the window or sunroof. Any ideas?

Does it vary with speed or with rpm?

Perhaps an obvious thing, but there's not a pebble or a nail stuck in one of your tires?

Or is it with road vibration? On my V40 there is a rubbing noise (where the roof liner and roof sheet metal touch with a 1.5mm thick insulating rubber pad separating the metalwork). It's prevelent with body flex/road vibration. Sometimes the console where the moonroof switch is also has a ticking (loose material inside the console) type noise. I haven't fixed either. The rubbing should be super easy to fix. I'm thinking of lubing it with vaseline so it doesn't rub. Any better ideas?

When I purchased my 1998 S40 T4 it was full of noises. And I do recall a ticking noise at that same location. But since this was a long time ago I don't remember what they did. I think it was some noise in the roof. Anyway this is common (I guess) to the S40. :-(

You sure it's not the warning light relay that starts if you're not wearing a seatbelt? Caught mt out yesterday when we took a T4 for a drive and I took belt off to reverse!
