Diagnostic Codes 850 95

I am trying to reset the diagnostic codes on my 1995 850 GLT. Haynes says plug into A6 (I've been told A7 as well, but it doesn't work either), hold button for more than 5 seconds, LED will light and stay on, then hold button down for another 5 seconds.

I've made sure to have the ignition on when it needs to be, and to check all the numbers (A1, A2 etc.) before resetting - no luck. I get one quick flash and that's it.

Is there a fault somewhere keeping this from being reset? I get no light patterns on several numbers (not the blanks).

Thanks in advance.

Greg

    Re: Diagnostic Codes 850 95

If I am right, ALL codes need to be read before resetting them, may want to make sure all the codes came out first before attempting a reset?

      Re: Diagnostic Codes 850 94

Help! I'm following your forum but don't understand, With what do I read the diagnostic codes? Is there a special tool? where can I get one?

I'm having lots of trouble with my '94 T5, stops for no reason but always starts again (so far) also a very noisy Turbo. Will the diagnostics system record why the car stops if it's an intermittent problem?

      Help appreciated,

I am not sure if it will reveal the exact problem, but you can get an awful lot of info from the codes. The board listed by Rich shows you how to do it and you can order the Haynes manual from Amazon.com that tells you as well. You can buy a handheld scanner for 100-400 dollars depending on what your budget is that will pull them off. I am not sure where you get them in your area, but they are available from several different sites. I suggest trying the Bay13 method as listed by Rich Fairfax previously before spending a lot of money though.

Try the link below, it has instructions for reading and clearing codes.
