I have the 'can't get it out of park' problem 75% of the time, so I read up on the past threads on this topic.
I have a pretty good idea of the components involved, but is there a wiring diagram somewhere, so I can test the components and see where do I lose voltage?

Any other tips would be appreciated.

When you have the console off, take a look at the mechanics of the shift lever.

When I had problems with my '96 855R, I tested the switches with no luck.

When I looked at the lever, I could see that pulling on the button did not push the plastic rod down far enough to unlock the lever.

Since I saw no problems with the mechanism and I had read that the lever was pressed on, I decided that the lever must have moved up.

I gave the lever a couple of good smacks with the open palm of my hand - no more troubles for about 6 years now.

You might try the smacks before you take everything apart!

I don't have a diagram, part of that system is mechanical anyway. If you do not hear a click while the car is in park and you push the brake pedal, check the brake pedal switch.

The odds are in favor of the shift interlock switch below and on the right side of the shifter - center console needs to come off to look at it.

The ignition switch can be checked by slightly rotating the key and then trying to shift.
