ABS Brake V70-XC70 2004

Got a ABS Brake light on and the message "brake failure stop safely"

Well I can stop perfectly fine but I'm also getting additional codes
as well as my odometer isn't working either. Some times the light goes out an
the odometer comes back on.

Easy or hard fix? Circuit board?

Had the same or similar problem on my 2000 XC70 two years ago and couldn't ignore it any longer so did some research and found Vic Rocha in California who provided a rebuild service and detailed instructions to remove.

Took the module off and sent it to him and drove the car for a week with no module- got it back and installed it and good to go- still good today.

XeMODex did not show up on the radar screen back then but I just installed an ETM (Electronic Throttle Module) rebuilt and pre-loaded with the correct software based on the VIN, by them.

Both are highly recommended, IMHO, as significant $$$ were saved in lieu of a dealer visit.

The dealers will charge you a prescribed # of hours for diagnostics, even though they know up front what the problems are.

Good luck. . .

I don't believe Vic does P2 ABS modules, too different than the older units.
